Many groups of migrant workers including Taiwan Association for Human Rights and TASAT hosted a press conference on July 7.
They criticized that Department of Social Welfare asked Harmony Home Association(HHA) to make every case referral to other places and stpoed National Immigration Agency not to make referral to HHA in the future.
Taiwan Association for Human Rights said that the government could not supply a place for migrant workers and was not willing to deal with those problems. The government only kept oppressing non-government Organizations.
The deputy chief of department of social welfare in Taipei claimed that their duty is to care for the welfare of children. The deputy chief said that they found over twenty children are settled down in HHA which is not a legal and safe place for children to stay.
TASAT said that if department of social welfare in Taipei thought that if they are not qualified for caring children, department of social welfare should have helped HHA to become a legal place for sheltering. But department of social welfare kept asking everyone not to make referral to HHA.
Finally, department of social welfare said that they will find specific solutions to discuss with HHA in seven days or migrant workers groups will protest again.
